Different reading formats make different digital experiences
The main feed contains different types of items, every item type stands for a different format of reading, and can be filtered to view one type at a time: Books, blogs, magazines and stand-alone recipes. keeping the original format of reading in mind, I created the thumbnails of the items according so their shape and look reflect their context and origins.
The recipe experience
I examined and researched different formats and layouts of recipes, going through (very) old and new cookbooks, print and online magazines, blogs and social media. Also drawing from my own personal experience, my goal was to make reading through a recipe inspiring and beautiful on the one hand and simple, easy and informative on the other. Thinking of our end users and how they would utilize this tool, I built the structure for the recipe experience.
The screen is divided into distinct sections, image on top leading to the text on the bottom, giving both space for maximum impact and usability. Keeping the navigation bar in the middle of the screen (right at the Ipad user's fingertips), it leads the users from the recipe cover to the final step and product shop and let's them jump ahead or go back. with the top right corner reserved for social engagement actions, the bottom of the screen contains a call to action to open a drawer full of other things the user might find interesting.
